MajX Shield: Using Metrics in Decisions

  • The Decision tab is used to define Pass/Fail criteria against individual metrics, or formulas that are derived from various metric combinations.

  • A single datafile can contain multiple data channels processed into multiple metrics; all of which can appear on the Decision tab to create  comprehensive Pass/Fail Determination of the many behaviors represented by the metric formulations

  • A configuration file in MajX captures all of the necessary steps to define signal processing, metrics, and ultimately Decisions. Thereafter, the complete Decision table  will process to completion just by opening any compatible datafile.

  • Files processed in MajX can produce a results file that contains all of the metrics, limits, and associated waveform segments (the Return Metric) that appear on the Decision tab.

  • Metric Formulas are a powerful way to create specialized metrics with behaviors that isolate specific dependencies in the data

  • Freeform naming of formulas can also help to keep the Decision tab logical and informative

  • A formula is devised to create  weighted summation

of key gear mesh harmonics in an audio signal.

    • Boolean logic is a very powerful way to combine metrics with conditional behaviors

    • Metric to Boolean functions will convert metric values to Boolean values through threshed testing

    • Boolean equations can then create complex nested conditional statements using Boolean metrics.

A Boolean equation is used to test two Boolean metrics which indicate the presence

of a 1/cycle impulse on the first or second rotation respectively
