A Tool for Mobile Data Acquisition
Leveraging the latest compact reconfigurable I/O
technology
from National Instruments Corporation, SWORD can easily
implement intricate acquisition sequences tailored to a variety
of mission
profiles. Whether you need a low-cost datalogger, a
high performance interactive run sequencer, or
a rugged, embedded system that operates autonomously,
SWORD can provide an integrated hardware and software
platform to meet these needs.
Advantages:
-
Multi-channel CAN, Strain, Temp, Analog,
Digital data in one system
-
Intuitive run
sequencing definition suitable to meet formal standards for
Ride & handling, Brake development, etc.
-
Configurable
sample rate groups, Multi-input trigger logic, environment
recording, and operator notes organized around an intuitive
file system architecture.
-
Optional Heads-Up-Display via Bluetooth or serial connection to a PDA
-
Interactive or
fully autonomous data collection
-
Ability to concatenate units to achieve high channel counts and distributed data acquisition
Brakes
Sword offers and ideal brake testing
platform. Synchronized data streams from a diverse multi-rate
sensor package are combined with Flexible triggering options and
a remote heads up display to give the ideal on-road brake
performance assessment tool.

unique sensor combinations mark the
start and end of brake events |
|
Sword incorporates a bluetooth heads-up display to indicate critical driver information such as target deceleration levels or brake temperature |
 |
Vehicle Dynamics
|
Sword's modular architecture can easily
accommodate both large and small vehicle tests. This
flexibility means Sword can adapt to demands for
higher and more diverse channel counts, which are needed
to accommodate the increasing range of active systems
built into modern vehicles. |
|
|
- In a complex system, each unit can be configured
for a specific sensor complement
|
 |
- Synchronized data merges in a single TDMS data file
|
|
|
 |
Sword can synchronously blend a rich CAN
message stream with other sensor data |

Rugged Environments
Do you test in extreme conditions? The CompactRIO hardware from
National Instruments is built to withstand the toughest
environments out there. With an operating temperature range of
-40o to 85o C and a 50g shock rating, this system will allow you
to reliably collect data, no matter what the situation.
Paired with a rugged laptop, test engineers can take data, view live readouts, and do sensor checks real-time. If you need remote monitoring and acquisition, configure the CompactRIO in the warmth of the garage then disconnect the network cable and the system will become an embedded acquisition device.
Fleet Testing
Sword features worldwide hardware availability, light
weight, small size, ruggedness, and reliability, all key attributes sought by any enterprise seeking a
fleet solution for in-vehicle data acquisition.
Sword offers the fleet customer:
-
Intuitive GUI to help define standardized testing procedures
coupled with a clear data hierarchy to organize large data sets.
-
Optional Headless operation requiring an operator to
manage only a trigger source to step through complex
pre-defined test sequences.
|

The fleet solution:
systems are brought into a
garage at the end of the day where they connect to a
wireless network. A scanning utility
retrieves any new data, makes an appropriate
database entry and archives time history files in a
central location where engineers can retrieve and
analyze the days results |
|
|
Reconfigurable Hardware
Sword supports several pre-configured channel layouts tailored to
specific mission profiles. Select from our existing
configurations, or contact us about adjusting the number and
type of modules to meet your needs.
