Using triggered imagery, which will freeze each tooth of a rotating gear in position, vision enhancement allows the contact patch on a painted gear to be rendered for automated scoring of size, position and aspect ratio of the roll pattern.

Signal.X is known for a diversity of skills and experiences. Our project portfolio offers a look at some of the most interesting and distinct projects that we have completed in recent years. This is by no means a comprehensive list and we look forward to hearing from you to discuss you own unique applications.

A large automotive manufacturer is working with us to create a next generation vehicle dynamics test data acquisition system. The new tool must meet a precise specification for sensor signal conditioning and  and will achieve rugged portability using the latest technologies available from National Instruments including the Compact RIO data acquisition engine.

MajX NVH Shield is performing high volume NVH parameter assessment of diesel engines in order to identify mechanical assembly faults and excessive noise levels of critical components - all with full traceability and 100% data retention.

A driveshaft durability test rig is re-controlled using a custom application designed and developed by Signal.X. The requirements called for a dedicated controller running a LabVIEW RT operating system and a supervising test executive to manage displays and test configurations. The application implemented real-time control over 3 axis of motion, fault protection and full flight recorder and recovery logic.

When a new gearbox was required to produce a more efficient fan operating position, Signal.X provided a custom application to score the acceptability of the gear mesh harmonics in low volume production.

Working for a large diesel engine manufacturer, Signal.X was asked to produce an estimate of combustion induced noise and vibration.  The technique employed is based on the principals of multiple input-multiple output signal analysis and requires a large array based measurement of cylinder pressure, vibration and optionally, sound.  Related SAE Paper

NASA Glenn is conducting research of oiless bearings for space applications. Signal.X was asked to create a custom dynamics signal analyzer that could record and analyze air bearing coastdowns from very high speeds lasting in excess of 1 hour. Sampling at rates as high as 20kHZ on up to eight channels for 60 minutes produced and enormous file. However, a unique dynamic file access slider control makes it easy to interactively search the stored datafile and identify areas of anomalous vibration. For example, shaft orbits will reveal the presence of resonance instability in the supported shaft at certain critical speeds.

Axles in automotive applications are a critical component to the overall NVH perception of the vehicle. MajX is used internationally to score axle gear mesh quality in a variety of different types of axle test machines.
